Horse trainer Chad Brown facing charge for choking, pushing a woman in New York
Following an incident in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Wednesday night, trainer Chad Brown, whose Zandon placed third in this year's Kentucky Derby, was charged with obstruction of breathing.
According to The Times Union of Albany (N.Y.), Brown stayed the night in the local jail.
Brown "pushed a woman down a flight of stairs at his residence," according to Assistant District Attorney Kayla Potter.
Since entering his first horse in the 2013 Kentucky Derby and placing fourth with Normandy Invasion, Brown has become a fixture on the Derby path.
His best performance was with Good Magic, who finished second in 2018 to eventual Triple Crown victor Justify.
From 2016 to 2019, Brown earned four consecutive Eclipse Awards for Outstanding Trainer. Brown is this year's top North American trainer, according to Equibase.com.
